The area’s licensed guides are well-known for providing exceptional hunting opportunities for sportsmen from all over the country.

Along with tremendous amounts of timberland to use, Allagash is the destination of the legendary Allagash River and the finish of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.  In the town of Allagash, the Mighty St. John River and Allagash meet.  Both rivers, are popular amongst fishermen and paddlers.  Canoeing and Kayaking is not only a recreational activity here, but its a way of life.  Anglers pursue Native Brook Trout, Muskellunge, Landlocked Salmon, and other sport species.

The town is comprised mostly of people of Scots,  Irish descends.  These individuals are hard working and welcoming. The people of the area predominantly make their living from the land. The primary professions in this tiny community are logging and guiding.  Many families have countless years of experience in both professions.
